Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrive Paro
The flight to Paro offers spectacular mountain views. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our representative. Spend the afternoon exploring Paro, including Ta Dzong Museum and Rimpung Dzong. Enjoy a leisurely evening, soaking in the serene atmosphere of the Paro Valley before retiring to your hotel.
Day 2 | Paro
Embark on a hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, followed by a visit to the reconstructed Drukgyel Dzong. Take some time to explore other cultural and historical landmarks in the valley before heading back to your hotel for a restful night.
Day 3 | Paro – Shana (5-6 hours)
The trek begins at Drukgyel Dzong, following the Pa Chu River. Pass scenic farmhouses and vibrant forests to reach Shana. Marvel at the unique Bhutanese architecture of the farmhouses along the trail as you settle into your campsite.
Day 4 | Shana – Thangthangka (7-8 hours)
Climb through oak and rhododendron forests alongside the river. Arrive at a meadow campsite at Thangthangka. The night sky here offers a stunning view of the stars, creating a memorable camping experience.
Day 5 | Thangthangka – Jangothang (7 hours)
Ascend into a beautiful valley, passing yak herders and spectacular mountain views. Camp at Jangothang beneath Mt. Chomolhari. Use the evening to admire the reflection of Chomolhari in the nearby lake, a photographer’s paradise.
Day 6 | Jangothang (Rest Day)
Spend the day acclimatising or take a short hike to nearby lakes or viewpoints. Consider visiting the yak herders to learn about their traditional way of life.
Day 7 | Jangothang – Lingshi (7-8 hours)
Cross Nyile La Pass (4890m), with panoramic views of the Himalayas. Descend to the Lingshi area for an overnight camp. The valley offers a unique opportunity to spot blue sheep grazing along the ridges.
Day 8 | Lingshi – Waleythang (8 hours)
Trek through breathtaking landscapes, crossing Yale La Pass (4820m) to reach Waleythang. Enjoy the vibrant wildflowers that dot the trails, adding a splash of colour to the stunning terrain.
Day 9 | Waleythang – Gang-Tsa (7-8 hours)
Climb to Ledi La Pass (4700m) before descending into a scenic valley. Camp at Gang-Tsa. The remote location provides a tranquil setting, perfect for unwinding after the challenging trek.
Day 10 | Gang-Tsa – Jigmelangtsho (6-7 hours)
Follow trails through forested ridges and arrive at the serene Jigmelangtsho Lake for an overnight camp. Spend the evening enjoying the stillness of the lake and the crisp mountain air.
Day 11 | Jigmelangtsho – Lababa (6-7 hours)
Cross two passes, Yusa La and Dung Tsho La, before camping near Lababa. The views from the passes are breathtaking, offering an expansive panorama of the surrounding peaks.
Day 12 | Lababa – Thimphu (5-6 hours)
Descend through blue pine forests to Phajoding Monastery, then drive to Thimphu. Take the evening to explore the lively streets of Thimphu, lined with shops and cafes.
Day 13 | Thimphu – Punakha
Visit highlights of Thimphu before driving to Punakha via Dochu-La Pass. Spend the evening enjoying the mild climate of Punakha and the beauty of its terraced fields.
Day 14 | Punakha – Paro
Enjoy a morning hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. After returning to Paro, take a stroll through the town’s quaint streets to pick up souvenirs and sample local delicacies.
Day 15 | Depart Paro
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure flight. Reflect on your incredible journey through Bhutan’s breathtaking landscapes as you bid farewell to this enchanting kingdom. Tashi Delek!
